SPRINGFIELD – A two-car collision that closed off a bit of Roosevelt Avenue for 2 hours Wednesday was attributable to an unknown suspect in a 3rd automobile firing gunshots at one of many automobiles, police stated.
The accident occurred at round 11:45 a.m. within the space of 1300 Roosevelt. One automobile crossed over the middle line and struck one other automobile in what’s described as a “close to head-on collision.”
Police spokesman Ryan Walsh stated the occupants of the automobile that crossed into the oncoming lane every advised police that their automobile went uncontrolled after somebody in a 3rd automobile began taking pictures at them.
Walsh stated police obtained notification of gunshots within the space from its Shot Spotter gunshot detection system. Additionally they discovered shell casings on the bottom.
After the crash, the third automobile fled the scene.
Nobody was caught by gunfire. One passenger within the automobile that was hit by the primary automobile was taken to the hospital for therapy of minor accidents.
